Production environment
Ariake Sea
“Ariake sea” is the biggest
production of Nori in Japan.
Ariake sea is the largest inland sea in Kyusyu. The coastal area adjacent to Nishi Ward, Kumamoto City is fed by water from Mt. Aso and Mt. Kimpo. this means the seawater contains not only nutrients from the sea, but also minerals from the mountains. This rich mix of nutrients and minerals and an extraordinary difference between high and low tides contribute to the high quality of the region’s nori. Ariake sea is also where Japanese Nori’s cultivation began. There is a reason why Nori from Ariake sea is incredibly tasty.
