Nori harvesters nationwide are paying special attention to Ushijima Akinari’s production and processing techniques. He is striving to promote Ariake Nori among younger fishermen in neighboring areas as well as to train successors.

Nakamura Makoto is the third generation of a nori farming family. His emphasis on crispness, flavor, and melt-in-the-mouth feeling – not just appearance - appeals to processors in the prefecture who say, “Nakamura’s nori is the best!”

Okishin has the largest nori harvest area in Kumamoto Prefecture, and Urayama Nori prides itself on having the largest production in the Okishin Fisherman’s Cooperative. Urayama Mikiya takes advantage of both the pole method and the floating net method, and enjoys a strong reputation for his quality production and processing.

As shown in the table below, the amount of nori produced differs greatly depending on the year. So we have the following system to secure stable supply to consumers.

Generally it is possible to store nori for more than two years. So when the harvest is good, we can limit the amount shipped to cooperatives, and store more for our own company so that we can ensure a stable supply for you.

Ariake Fishermen’s Nori is a company made up of three nori producers of high national repute. Through cooperative production and processing, we can offer a stable supply of high quality Ariake Nori with no compromise in the manufacturing process.
